Dr. Dan Furst enjoys teaching, patient care and research, with a focus on rheumatoid arthritis and systemic sclerosis. He has a clinical pharmacology background and his research concentrates on developing and validating response measures, testing new medications and using medications as probes of disease pathogenesis. He has written approximately 980 articles and reviews, including approximately 60% peer reviewed research and 40% review articles and chapters. In addition, he has written or edited 12 books.
His present positions include: Professor of Rheumatology (emeritus) at the University of California in Los Angeles, Professor of Rheumatology (adjunct clinical) at the University of Washington, Seattle Washington, and Professor of Rheumatology (research) at the University of Florence, Florence Italy. He practices at the Seattle Rheumatology Associates in Seattle, Washington, and also practices and is the Director of Research at Pacific Arthritis in Los Angeles, California.
