Daphna Harel is an Assistant Professor of Applied Statistics at the Center for the Promotion of Research Involving Innovative Statistical Methodology at the New York University. Dr. Harel studies issues in psychometrics, educational measurement, and crowdsourcing. Her research focuses on modeling challenges for data arising from self-reported questionnaires, surveys and ratings obtained through crowdsourced tasks with specific focus to the applied health sciences. She advocates for the creation of theoretically justified guidelines for statistical analysis and acknowledgement of issues of model misspecification in polytomous Item Response Theory. Dr. Harel received her PhD from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University.
